Life:: From the desktop
Thank you to all those lovely people who have voted for me in the final round of this year's Craftsy Blogger awards, and thank you for all of your words of encouragement. Fingers crossed! If you haven't voted yet you can still do so until Monday 28th October. Currently I'm in second place and only 10% of votes behind first....so please could you vote if you haven't already? Thank you!!!! xxxxx
Now, let's get onto "From the desktop." As you know, I'm always working on new projects and ideas and as part of this series I thought that I would share with you the designing process so you can see how ideas start and how the finished quilt actually turns out.
A little while ago I was asked to design a quilt pattern for Riley Blake designs. It had to be young and fresh and use some fabric from one of their latest fabric ranges just released. Well, that was easy. Melanie from Melly and Me has just released her latest fabric-"Snug as a Bug." I decided that this would be the fabric that I would centre my quilt pattern around.
Here's one of the bug designs at the drawing/sketch stage.
The finished quilt features lots of easy and simple patchwork, with some cute, chubby applique bugs and butterflies.
Here, I'm working out the fabric pieces for the cute snail...
And here's the finished quilt!
Very easy if you're new to applique. The pattern comes with 2 free matching cushion designs, one for the boys and one for the girls! The pattern is now available in my Red Brolly shop.
And if you love applique....I also have another new quilt pattern out at the moment. A gorgeous ABC quilt. The finished quilt is divine!
There's one for the Girls....
...and of course one for the Boys...
Once again, thank you for voting in the Craftsy awards and getting behind me with your support. I have been busy working on lots of sewing tutorials for Christmas, which we'll start on shortly PLUS lots of exciting news at the end of next week with lots of things for you!!! x
