A Jubilee Tea Party!

Queen

An Invitation to High Tea---  Please Come.

An invitation to a High Tea is something to look forward to- but a HIGH Tea- In honour of Queen Elizabeth's sixty years on the throne- now that's something really special.  Also a wonderful break from my two closest allies and partners in crime- the Lightbox and the Computer! ( Sorry guys- but you can't come!)

So we donned our High Tea Hats, best regal gear, white gloves- and set off last weekend for a trip to the country - to my brother and sister-in-law's house.

The town where they live is rather idyllic- small country town, large golf courses, heritage buildings set in beautiful old established gardens- very English!

Just right for a very English afternoon tea.

My sister-inlaw- SJVH, had certainly gone to a lot of trouble.

We were greeted at the door by a "Royal" guard- resplendent in uniform.

Lots of British decorations- all the red white and blue was out in force.

The hosts
Top left is my brother Peter and next to him my sister-in-law SJVH- who is not only a scrumptious cook, but sews and quilts so beautifully.
Bottom left, in the royal regalia is Jim and Lou- SJVH's sister and brother-in law.

Perhaps you would like a  short introduction to the Party People.

You probably know some of them already.

The guests

There was so much to eat- cucumber sandwiches, of course - and goodies as far as the eye could see!

Hmmm- now where to start? That fudge looks rather yummy- why waste time on the savouries- when you can head straight for the goodies?

Food

... And of course there are the toasts- To the Queen- in Latin!

And I just have to show you this- SJVH made this specially for the occasion!

                                 Isn't it magnificent?

A great "wrap up", Bronwyn- it really was a fun afternoon. I was very privileged at sewing today as I was "allowed" to eat one of the corgies. They tasted as good as they looked but I did feel rather "cruel"!!!!

tally ho to you all... looks like everyone had fun

That looks very very good. What a beautiful quilt.

What a great excuse not to fit through the door....Poor me, I only have birthdays to do that! It looks like you all had a grand time. The quilt is beautiful. Will she be sending it to GB perhaps? Maybe Prince Philip will like to use it in hospital?

What a wonderful High tea!!

Marvellous, the food looked scrummy, I hope you all had a wonderful time.

Looks like an absolutely marvellous event Bronwyn! Thanks so much for sharing.

What a wonderful fun High Tea. Everything looked so gorgeous and the yummies didn't look too shabby either. Looked like you all had a ton of fun. Still laughing about the poor 'corgies' who met their demise.

Oh what a lovely time you all had! Love the photos. And that BEAUTIFUL embroidered tablecloth is just wonderful. What a treasure. Yes, I think I would have left the room sideways too!
