Let your dreams take flight :: Red Brolly free Butterfly stitchery

Red Brolly butterfly ladyIn my last post we were talking about a special butterfly I found in the middle of winter on my morning walk and I recalled to you about whispering wishes, dreams and hopes to a butterfly and the butterfly granting you your secret wishes. The feedback was tremendous, I hadn't realised how popular butterflies would be!

So, over the next week or 2 I will do a few postings around butterfly crafts, with the theme of "Let your dreams take flight." I really hope you like them. I've been madly stitching all weekend and I've designed a butterfly stitchery to start us off with the theme.

It's a secret garden gate, surrounded by butterflies. Where the gate goes, you only know. I've stitched this one using variegated thread in "Vintage Rose" from Cottage Garden Threads. The instructions I've included has suggestions for coloured threads if you choose so.

Red-brolly-butterfly-stitchery-5It's a very quick and simply project that can be completed in a few hours. It's a great place to start if you are a novice stitcher. And see those little flowers on the wisteria? They done with colonial knots and I'll give you a tutorial tomorrow on how to do a colonial knot. They're very easy.

If you're an expert stitcher and have some great tips on how to do a perfect colonial knot, please contribute to the discussion on my facebook page and I'll include your hints.
