Street knitting!!!

Have you seen this? Isn't it wonderful? I love the application of knitting in such a variety of creative and unusual ways.

Currently there is a resurgence in knitting and crochet (which I just love), anyway, creative, crafty and imaginative people have taken this one step further and are using their skills to "jazz up" your boring old streets. Street knitting. Have you come across this?

Check these pictures out. Don't they make you smile?

These two I love the most...

Apparently there are guerrilla knitting gangs, or yarnbombers, as they are also know as, setting up all over the place. They are known to target street signs, trees, or even just cover a street pole or fence. Their identities remain a mystery and their artworks appear magically overnight.

Don't you just love it?

If you're interested, you can actually join one of these groups. They're worldwide. Go and share your skill and make someone smile.

Recipe: Easter cookies...delicious

Easter1 Easter3

Easter2

With Easter fast approaching, I thought that you might like to do some Easter baking. I whipped these Easter cookies up over the weekend. My inspiration were the gorgeous Fagerge eggs.

I don't know if I've quite succeeded...I think I need more practice with the piping, perhaps I should just stick to the quilt designing.

Anyway, I thought they might make great presents to put in your freebie Easter "Googy" Egg bag...which I know that you've all been busy stitching!!!

If you're interested in finding out about the history of the Faberge eggs, you can read all about them here.

And you'll find my Easter Egg vanilla sugar biscuit recipe here (Just scroll down a bit).

Wordle...Have you done it?

Here's something interesting. Have you ever Wordled? Do you know about this?

I've just stumbled upon this and it seems like I'm a little behind the latest craze. Wordle is creating "word clouds" from a given text. It's a fun way to be a little creative...here's a few examples of Wordles...

Wordle: Excerpt from Martin Luther's "I have a dream speech"

An excerpt from Martin Luther King's, "I have a dream speech."

Wordle: U2 Beatiful Day

Song Lyrics to "Beautiful Day" by U2

Wordle: Green Eggs and Ham

"Green Eggs and Ham" by Dr. Seuss

It's actually really interesting, because the program gives prominence to the number of times a word is mentioned, hence, the larger a word is, the more times it is mentioned. Wouldn't this be useful to compare our leaders speeches?

So I was thinking, creating a wordle might be a fun and creative way to make a lovely wall art project for your kids room or that little space on your wall that needs "a little something." Maybe your sewing room? Why not make a word cloud out of sewing words and then make it into something to hang onto your wall? Perhaps inspirational words or your favourite poem? I don't know, what do you think?

The options are endless...

Here's a word cloud I quickly created using Red Brolly words from my blog.

Have a lovely weekend. Don't forget the AQC is on. But more of that later... 6a0120a6769b0c970c0147e3e563f2970b-320wi

Snips and Snaps.

Just a few items of mention.

  Firstly-the Winning Ticket!

Yes- Cyndy (www.prim-point.com) and I have decided- a trip to the South of France is definitely what we need!  So I tore off to the newsagent- and here it is-the winning ticket.  $15 milliion I think. After sunning ouselves on a French beach- it's off to Paris for some shopping!

Ticket

Only thing is-  I'm too afraid to go and check it- in case - in the very unlikely event- I haven't won!

I've already spent the $15 Million in my imagination!

What would you do if you won $15 million?

Would you keep on working?

 Maybe keep it a secret?

Finished size is 80cm (31 1/2") x 71cm (28") high.

The pattern is now available at your favourite patchwork shop, or you can buy it online at my featured seller..."Pokey Chicken," which you'll find in the sidebar.
