You remember Jill? From the Wedding and the Beautiful House?  Which was featured on THIS Blog.

Well- much excitement for Jill- her beautiful home has been chosen by Homespun Magazine to be the background for their next photo shoot.  Which means in a Homespun coming up- (January I think, more details later) you'll be able to see more of Jill's House behind the Homespun Projects!!  So keep an eye out.

Teapot Border

We've been testing out some great new recipes for you, here at the Red Brolly Test Kitchen- some really yummy ones! So you'll have some super delicious stuff to go in the Christmas Baskets, Christmas Hangers, Jingle Cones and onto the Sugarplum Tabletopper. (All patterns can be seen under the "Christmas" button and bought at any good Red Brolly stockist).

IMG_4330

These were supposed to be Santa's noses biscuits (on the right, it's dinner on the left)- Chocolate biscuit, Marshmallow on top, coated in chocolate- Yum!  But didn't quite work out!

IMG_4332

Maybe the oven was a little too hot.... BUT..... they now look like Bird Splat Biscuits.  Oh well, try again!

All recipes can be found under the "Recipe" button- and will be updated regularly!

( Yes, you are quite welcome to use the recipes , even if you haven't bought the patterns.)

Teapot Border

I like to support great causes when I can.  There are two wonderful projects coming up to raise money for two great charities- of which I'm a part of the fundraising.

The first is the Addis Adaba (say that six times fast) Fistula Hospital in Ethiopa which is part of Quilt Aid- put together by Helen Stubbings  of Pattern Press. This quilt will be released early 2011 and has such famous people designing for it as:

Anni Downs, Lynnette Anderson, Helen Stubbings, Sue Daley,Nat Lymer, Whimsical Quilts,Bunny Hill Designs, Bareroots, Brenda Riddle, Kathy Schmitz and Robyn Pandolph.

Brutus will be so upset when he finds out- but.. I put a D-O-G in the design!

He's really going to carry on!

IMG_3038

Brutus

I knew he'd be upset!  So I've also designed another project for Homespun- and I put Brutus in it! Haven't told him yet. I'll let him get over the dog episode first.

Miss Twinkles #4

I can't show you the whole of the designs, only bits- as they haven't been released yet- all Top Secret Stuff!

The Wedding!

Here we all are, on a wettish but sunny day for The Wedding!

The wedding was set for- 10.10 am on the tenth of the tenth, 2010!

With a wedding breakfast to follow.

IMG_4261

The chapel was set in the grounds of one of the prestigious schools of the area- with gorgeous flowers and shrubs.

........ and Jill, who has the most gorgeous house, which was featured on the Blog a short while back.

IMG_4265
After the wedding ceremony- and some photos,it was a short walk around the corner for the Wedding Breakfast.

IMG_4266

In through the door! (Don't you love the old wooden tiles?).

IMG_4267
And- Hey- a room full of people! And Balloons.. and Champagne!

IMG_4271

I have to tell you about the Bunting. ( Ooops- I mean THE Bunting).

Four hundred and forty four little flags- all sewn together with bias, totally made from left-over quilting fabric! All made by the Good Bunting Fairies.

They should have been quilted by David- the Bunting Quilter (see photo

no. 8)- but no-one could find him!

So the 444- had to be put up- with no quilting!

This is Bunting Fairy One (Chief Turner of the Points) and Bunting Fairy Two ( She who cuts and Sews).

IMG_4272

Followed by Bunting Fairy Three- the Queen of the Bunting Fairies!

IMG_4276

I also have to must mention- the beautiful patched tablecloth for the wedding cake.

IMG_4273

The Bunting Fairies have done it again!

We all finished with a delicious breakfast of Champagne, sausages, scrambled eggs, toast, croissants......... more champagne....

IMG_4275
And off to the Elephant Boy for some strong coffee.

I See the Light!

Candle

I am totally in awe of all those women who sewed such beautiful and intricate things by candlelight.  After two days this week with no electricity- I really appreciate the good old light bulb!

This is a photo of my desk- with double the light note, of how I had to sew during the blackout!

IMG_4368

This is what I was able to sew by candlelight- very difficult trying to distinguish between the brown and the purple thread. I bet those candlelight women had really strong glasses!

IMG_4369

I managed to put most of this new bag together by candlelight before the guy from the electric company came ( at 10.15pm! no less) to fix the electricity! You've no idea how relieved I was to see Light!

I've been designing some small bags for Christmas giftgiving- they're something useful and make great gifts.

IMG_4371

I think this one is a really tiny- perhaps a little too small.  I've designed it for odds and ends- make-up, sewing- or just money and credit cards. But I think I'll try enlarging the pattern- then you can fit more in!

The photo above with the candles is my desktop (aka "the Living Room Table)- relatively bare- but this is how it looks when I'm packing the orders......

IMG_4232

Note the coffee cup- always need lotsa coffee when packing!

IMG_4234

I pack each pattern individually  in their plastic bags..... and...

Put them in boxes to go to the courier.

Rain and Floriade.

The rain has refreshed the gardens here in Canberra-= so I decided to take a trip with the Flower Girls to Floriade-  A magnificent display of flowers, stalls and events on the shores of Lake Burley Griffin.

IMG_3885
Hey - I can hear music!

IMG_3915

Hey girls- wait for me!  There they go over the bridge- see them on the other side! They are so impatient!  Can't wait for me to finish photographing!

IMG_3922

Now I see why the girls were so eager to get to the other side of the bridge! A free wine tasting!

O.K. Girls- I'll meet you back at the car in an hour!

Nice to meet you!

Hi Everyone :)

*waving*

Nice to be meeting all of you. Bronwyn says such lovely things, but I'm hardly a computer "guru." I'm on board at the moment to do some of the "computerie" bits and pieces. You may have noticed that there are photos gradually being added to the buttons on the sidebar as well as a newsletter which you may like to sign-up for. You may not know that Bronwyn also has a facebook page that she's also busy with (just search Bronwyn Hayes).

And...sshhhhh....there is another exciting little project I'm working on with Bronwyn, which....fingers and toes crossed....we can hopefully reveal to you next week.

However, ladies (and gents), you are all a little bit naughty! One of the major things Bronwyn would like to really get going is the addition of some of your lovely creations to her blog...you may notice that there is a heading in the sidebar....but no photos *sob, sob* It's looking a little bare. *boo hoo*

There are several ways in which you can submit your photos...and show them off to all of us!!! You can simply e-mail them through to Bronwyn (thebronwyn_hayes@hotmail.com) and then we can put them up for everyone (please make sure that they are a pdf file)  Or.......you can put them into flickr. There are several groups up and running...

 1. The catalicious quilt group- for all things Brutus...poor little Smudge will get ever so jealous with Brutus getting all the attention.

 2. A general Red Brolly Club- Share with us anything using Red Brolly designs.

 3. And with the lead up to Christmas, we would all love to see what you're sewing to make your Christmas a Red Brolly one. Any Christmas creations you can post too.

But....if you don't particularly want to show us/off your creations, you are more than welcome to join in any discussions and offer advice and words of encouragement to other fellow stitchers. *cheer*

So come on ladies and gents, show off your creations! And Bronwyn will keep you posted about our exciting little project....(we can't reveal ALL our secrets at once, now can we?)
